2021 Recipients of the City of Bloomington Digital Equity Grants

The City of Bloomington contracted with a firm to conduct a citywide survey of street pavement conditions. As part of this effort, real-time conditions regarding the City of Bloomington's approximately 15,000 street signs were also collected during the late fall of 2017. This was done through field inspections utilizing the use of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) technology. LIDAR is much more time efficient than visual data collection, allows for real-time data collection and provides more uniform and accurate reporting.

Total organic carbon (TOC) is the total amount of organic matter in the water, and is used to evaluate water quality.

The City of Bloomington Department of Public Works - Street Division recently contracted for a citywide assessment that analyzed the current condition of streets, sidewalks, sidepaths and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant accessible curb ramps. This project builds upon a similar effort that was last performed in 2017-2018 by the Public Works Department and updates the condition data that was collected at that time for these important transportation assets.

Reduce consumption of natural gas by 12% as compared with 2018 values.

Increase how much power we use from wind and solar sources.

Bloomington on-street bike facilities are managed and maintained by the Planning and Transportation department. These are features like shared and protected bike lanes.

Increase funding for making City buildings more energy efficient and for using renewable energy sources for the power that is needed for operation.
